Printer specifications- The Sharp JX 9460 printer works with Sharp JX 9460 toner and is definitely not the most fashionable and technologically advanced printer on the market. However rather good quality laser prints at speeds of 6 ppm at 300 resolutions are produced. Users have a choice between landscape or portrait page orientation. A 250 sheet paper cassette with manual feed slot for paper types such as film, labels and envelopes comes standard with your purchase. Epson FX 80, IBM- Proprinter and Graphics Printer emulations plus 5 standard emulations are available on the device. Very slow memory capacity of 1.0 RAM is also included with the printer.

Interfacing options- Unfortunately, only a very outdated connectivity option is available in the form of a Parallel port. This makes the printer highly unappealing as USB interfacing is the in-thing, with most computers not even accepting parallel ports anymore.

Optional investments- A few investments can be done in the form of extra's for the printer if more complex printing is done. These accessories include envelope and paper cassettes, expansion memory, font cards, PostScript Emulation and interfacing boards.

Control panel- The printers' control panel is very confusing to say the least with a Christmas tree lighting effect every time the printer performs or fails to perform an operation. The control panel mainly comprises of buttons and lights indicating print options and status. Please set the printers' status to offline before attempting usage of function keys. The majority of the function keys are duel function depending upon the duration and times buttons are pushed. A red error light, lights-up during printing errors. A green online light indicated the device is ready to receive data and print. A yellow manual light indicates that the printer is switched to manual feed mode and the data light, blinks while waiting for feed commands from user.

Power saver- The Sharp JX 9460 printers is super environmentally friendly with it's built-in power saving feature. Your printer will be set on this mode upon setup. Should there be no transmission of data or key's pushed for a pre-set time frame, the machine will go into power saving mode. Power consumption is significantly reduced by the reduction of temperatures of the fusing unit by the feature.

Media compatibility- The printer is rather fussy in terms of media compatibility. Only letter, A4, envelope, label, transparency and legal media sizes are accepted. Envelope sizes range from International C5, DL, Business to Monarch. Envelopes with any attachments such as strings, snaps, tabs as well as windows can potentially damage your printer. Only manufacturer approved transparencies should be used. Density must be adjusted when transparencies are printed.

Optional font card- The optional font cards contains a range of fonts not included with the device. The process of loading fonts onto the printer is as easy as pie, just insert the card in allocated slot while on and data lights on device are off and you are ready to go. Erratic prints and hardware errors may occur when inserted during printing process or while online. Be sure to only use Sharp JX 9460 toner with this product.
