With portability being the way to go, desktop computers are becoming a thing of the past. With the new mobile devices such as iPhones, Blackberries and other smart phone on the market, they are making portability a desired commodity. Just walk down the street and you will see how true this really is.

People don't want to wait to get home to check their e-mails, make their Facebook updates, or surf the web, they want to be connected at all times and these phones make it possible to do all this and more. Even lately the advent of netbooks has continued to push the need for a computer whenever and wherever.

Additionally, notebooks and laptops are becoming more powerful than ever before having the same capabilities as most desktop computers but take up less space and are portable. So why would anyone want to purchase a desktop computer? They are big, bulky and take up a large amount of needed space at home or in the office.

Contrary to popular belief, desktops are still a great commodity in any home or office. They are more cost efficient, and the overall functionality is great. Also they are stationary; and you might ask why this is good.

Having the computer in an open area can keep it from children taking the computer in their room and viewing questionable material. Having in an area where it can be monitored is a good thing.

If you are worried about it taking up a lot of space they are now making all-in-one desktop computers. These are a lot smaller than traditional laptops, but still have the power of one. You will get a bigger screen with this as well.

Desktops are also more inexpensive. You can pay for the portability of a laptop but get a lot less computer. Also with laptops you will need to buy some sort of carrying case and other accessories that will end up costing you some more in the future.

With this it is easy to see why we still need desktops. There are many options to choose from, so take a look aroundyou may see something you like.
